Check Ticket Status – Professionals

Kentucky 811 makes it simple to check the positive response status of your locate requests anytime, anywhere. Recommended by the national Common Ground Alliance (CGA), positive response is a free tool we encourage all member utilities, locators, and excavators to participate in to decrease the chance of damages.

As an excavator, you can check positive response statuses before heading out to a job site or contact the member utility directly with any questions about the status. There are multiple ways to check positive response status:

Confirmation Email Link – Click the link included on the ticket in your confirmation email. You will also receive an email when the excavation start date and time passes showing the current positive response status for all notified member utilities.

ITICnxt – Log into your ITICnxt account and go to the “My Tickets” section. Once there,  find the ticket you are interested in viewing, click on the ticket link, and then scroll down to the members notified section.

Ticket Search –  Use the Kentucky 811 Ticket Search & Status to search for any locate request using the ticket number or information from the ticket. Once there, find the ticket you are interested in viewing, click on the ticket link, and then scroll down to the “members notified” section. No login is required to use Ticket Search.

If a member utility participates in positive response, you’ll see their current status. If they do not participate by responding back to the Kentucky 811 with a status, you’ll see “Does not participate.” They are still required to do the locate, but it won’t be confirmed in the system.

About Positive Response

Positive response is an important tool that allows member utilities to communicate the status (“Marked,” “Clear,” etc.) of a locate request directly with the excavator. This full-circle communication increases clarity and reduces the chance of a damage occurring, and each stakeholder plays an important role in the positive response loop.

Although Kentucky law does not mandate positive response, it’s supported by Kentucky 811 as a free tool that we encourage all member utilities, locators, and excavators to participate in to decrease the chance of damages.

Positive Response Codes

ITICnxt supports the following response codes:

1 – Marked – Underground facilities are in conflict.

1A – Marked-High Profile – High profile utility in conflict.

1B – Marked-Must Notify – Facility operator is requesting to be contacted so they can be onsite when the work begins.

2 – Clear – Utility is not in conflict.

3A – Unmarked-No Access – Locate technician could not gain access to property. Ensure access then notify the affected members by updating your 811 locate request.

3B – Unmarked-Incorrect Address – Incorrect address information. Confirm the address then update your 811 locate Request.

3C – Unmarked-Delay Requested – Marking delay determined by locate technician due to weather, force majeure, disasters, or civil unrest. The locate technician cannot mark within two full working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3C.1 – Unmarked-Due to weather – Marking delay determined by locate technician due to weather. The locate technician cannot mark within two full working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3C.2 – Unmarked-Due to force majeure – Marking delay determined by locate technician due to force majeure. The locate technician cannot mark within two full working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3C.3 – Unmarked-Due to a disaster – Marking delay determined by locate technician due to a disaster. The locate technician cannot mark within two full working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3C.4 – Unmarked-Due to civil unrest – Marking delay determined by locate technician due to civil unrest. The locate technician cannot mark within two full working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3D – Unmarked-Instructions Unclear – Locate instructions are unclear. Update your 811 locate request to clarify where on the property you will be excavating.

3E – Unmarked-Excavation Complete – The excavator has performed the excavation prior to the locator’s arrival.

3F – Unmarked-Line Is Untonable – The facility is unmapped or untonable. The operator shall update response within five (5) working days for a normal locate request or eight (8) working days for a large project request. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

3G – Unmarked-Large Project – Locate technician has deemed this request to be part of a large project which requires response within five (5) working days. Please wait for an additional response before excavating.

4 – Unmarked-Private Line – This is a private line and it is not the responsibility of the members of Kentucky 811 to locate private facilities.

5A – Exposed Facility, owned – Identified that the exposed facility belongs to the operator.

5B – Exposed Facility, not owned – The exposed facility does not belong to the operator.

6 – Work Done by KY811 Member – Work Being Done by KY811 Member.
